What is Osteopathy?
A scientifically based, holistic treatment method
History & Origin
Osteopathy was founded at the end of the 19th century by Dr. Andrew Taylor Still in the USA. Still recognized that the body functions as a unit and possesses self-healing powers. Today, osteopathy is a recognized form of therapy based on decades of research and clinical experience.
Scientific Foundations
Osteopathy is based on solid anatomical and physiological knowledge. Numerous studies demonstrate effectiveness for various conditions, particularly musculoskeletal problems, headaches, and functional disorders. Treatment is evidence-based and continuously developed through current research.
The Three Pillars of Osteopathy
Parietal Osteopathy
Treatment of the musculoskeletal system: bones, joints, muscles, fascia and ligaments
Visceral Osteopathy
Treatment of internal organs and their connections to the musculoskeletal system
Craniosacral Osteopathy
Treatment of the system between skull (cranium) and sacrum
Gentle Medicine – Scientifically Founded
How does osteopathy work? The human body possesses remarkable self-healing powers. When all structures work together harmoniously, the organism regulates itself and stays healthy. Disturbances in this finely balanced system – through poor posture, accidents, stress, or chronic overload – can impair this natural balance and lead to complaints.
This is exactly where osteopathy comes in: With trained hands, we detect movement restrictions, tension, and imbalances in the tissue and treat them specifically with gentle, precise manual techniques. We view the body holistically – because often the cause of complaints is in a completely different place than the location of the pain.
What makes osteopathy so effective?
- Holistic approach: We don't just treat symptoms, we look for causes
- Gentle method: Without medication, without injections – only with precise hand movements
- Activates self-healing: We support the body's own regenerative powers
- Scientifically proven: Numerous studies confirm the effectiveness
Osteopathic treatment takes place in three interlocking areas: Parietal osteopathy treats bones, muscles, joints and fascia. Visceral osteopathy addresses the internal organs and their connective tissue attachments. Craniosacral osteopathy deals with the fine interplay between skull, spine and sacrum as well as the central nervous system.
What can you expect from a treatment? An osteopathic session lasts about 60 minutes and includes a detailed medical history, a holistic examination, and the actual treatment. Many patients report noticeable relief after the first session. Depending on the condition, 3-5 treatments at intervals of 2-4 weeks are typical to achieve lasting results – your body needs time to process and implement the therapeutic impulses.
Your Treatment Process
From initial assessment to lasting health – transparent and understandable

Detailed Medical History (approx. 15-20 min.)
In the initial consultation, we record your complaints, medical history, and life circumstances. This forms the basis for individually tailored treatment. Feel free to bring previous findings or X-rays.
Physical Examination (approx. 10-15 min.)
Using targeted tests and manual examination, we analyze your body statics, mobility, and tissue tension. We view the body holistically – often the cause is not at the location of pain.
Osteopathic Treatment (approx. 30-35 min.)
With gentle, precise hand movements, we release blockages and tension. The treatment is usually painless and perceived as pleasant. We combine various osteopathic techniques – individually tailored to your needs.
Follow-up Discussion & Recommendations (approx. 5 min.)
After treatment, you receive valuable tips for your daily life. If needed, we show you exercises to support the healing process. We also discuss the further treatment plan – usually 3-5 sessions are recommended.
